GVC ILLUMINATE
GVC Illuminate is an auditioned choir that meets once a week. In addition to learning how to be a great performer and basic music skills, they also learn 2-part harmony and get additional performing opportunities. The get to participate in a combined music video with GVC Children's Choir during the fall semester and their own music video during the spring semester.

Rehearsals
-
Rehearsals are held every Thursday evening from 7:00 - 8:00 PM in the Thatcher High School choir room.

Rehearsal attendance is very important! If your child misses more than 3 rehearsals, they will be dismissed from the choir without a refund.
Audition

What to Expect:

They will do a quick warm-up to assess vocal range.

Students should come with 30-90 seconds of a song prepared to sing for the audition. They can sing acapella or with a track that is easily searchable on YouTube or Spotify.

They will do a few rhythm exercises.

Students will sight-read a few exercises to gauge music reading ability. See examples below:

They can do the rhythm exercises by clapping or speaking the rhythm.
They can sing the sight-reading exercises on "La" or using solfege syllables.
